Judy Chicago

It’s Women’s Month and I want to celebrate women.

One of my favorite antidotes from second year of varsity was doing a course of feminist art and as per usual the opening line was how many female artists can you even name? Well my friend Gee and I accepted the challenge and after a while the lecturer just asked us to stop. There are such amazing powerful female artists

It’s just history’s recording isn’t always generous so let’s fix that with this fun challenge

The Dinner Party

The Dinner Party is an installation artwork by feminist artist Judy Chicago. Widely regarded as the first epic feminist artwork, it functions as a symbolic history of women in Western civilization. There are 39 elaborate place settings arranged along a triangular table for 39 mythical and historical famous women. Sacajawea, Sojourner Truth, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Empress Theodora of Byzantium, Virginia Woolf, Susan B. Anthony, and Georgia O'Keeffe are among the guests.

We jump start with her because our celebration is reflective of hers
