Castle House Open studios

Last night on Bree Street at Castle House open studios: When you talk about an event you sometimes instinctually want to placate the audience and say ‘you didn’t miss much’ but that would be a lie in this case.

The electric energy of the creative spaces and exploring the nine floors of Castle House on Bree street felt like a treasure hunt. Each different corridor and door leading you into a new environment of art. Some art studios are chaotically filled and others eerily focused. Photos, sketches, old drawings, trinkets and tools of the trade fill the studios.

These are some of my favourite moments of last night’s open studios. So often in a big event like this and like the upcoming art fair we look at the whole event. We our overstimulated with artistic talent from every aspect.

I find great joy in looking out and capturing small intimate moments in these events. How an artist has placed a flower next to a sketch or how the light falls on a surface.

It’s often in the smallest gestures you find a great deal of knowledge in how an artist thinks and how their creative practise develops.

Congratulations to all the artists from last night. It was a stunning beginning to an art filled week.
